Description
A practice of more than 600 years, Hatha is the base of all forms of yoga. In Sanskrit “Hatha” means “Force”, although it’s sometimes referred to as “Stubborn Yoga” in Hindi because the poses are held so long. Hatha yoga alludes to a system of physical techniques and precedes any other form of yoga. It attempts to harmonize the body so that it can be forgotten or transcended so the individual is more able to dedicate oneself to mental and spiritual pursuits.
When practicing Vinyasa yoga, Tantra is energy and consciousness which are involved in every movement of the practice. One develops management of energy locks at will, called Bandhas. Students can also develop permanent control of the mind. Tantra Vinyasa involves conscious alignment and fluidity between postures while utilizing the Tantric tool of the Ujjyi breath.
